Dr. Chandroo, Chairman of ASSETS, and Fiona Walker, PR Head of ASSETS, were delighted to represent ASSETS at the ECDA Early Childhood Conference 2013 in a lengthy exchange with the Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr. Chan Chun Sing. Joining him were Dr Lee Tung Jean, the CEO of ECDA, and Mr. Meivyn Ong, the Deputy CEO of ECDA, who mentioned to the Minister the recent meeting between ECDA and the Executive Committee of ASSETS in which they confirmed their support for a number of new initiatives. Mr. Chan was happy to see the number of ASSETS members, including both large and small centre operators, had grown from last year. He indicated ASSETS would indeed provide an important voice for the preschool operators and enable feedback to be channeled directly to the policy makers. Dr. Chandroo took the opportunity to mention the pressing challenge currently faced by the majority of preschools was the shortage of staff. Mr. Chan agreed this was an issue that needed to be addressed urgently.

The title of the Conference was "Coming Together: Excellence & Partnerships in Early Childhood Development”. This perfectly represents the relationship between ASSETS and the government bodies involved in Early Childhood Education and Training in Singapore.
